Basement Bar Records Mission Statement

On the surface, Basement Bar is a record label and an artist management company. More importantly though, it is the place where a growing number of music lovers, collectors and musicians hang out, discuss, debate and celebrate everything and anything to do with music.

Located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, the inspiration for Basement Bar came from the city's vibrant musical community. Best known for being the hometown of super producer Daniel Lanois, Hamilton has a well deserved reputation as a hotbed of incredible and diverse musical talent. From the dawn of rock and roll when Ronnie Hawkins arrived from Arkansas and rocked the Hamilton strip with his band the Hawks (who would, a few years later become known as The Band), right up to today, as artists like Holly McNarland and hip-hop rocker Kazzer mine Hamilton's live music clubs to hand pick their backing bands. The influence of Hamilton's musicians spreads well beyond its borders.

It is the mission of Basement Bar to help spread the word (and the
music) of some great but as yet unsung artists while giving our music loving community a place to meet other afficionados who share the same passions and enjoy exchanging information on the music that means something to them.

However, as much as it is about music, the soul of the Basement Bar lies in the people who gather around it. These "Bar Flies" realize that passions are better when you have someone to share them with.

The Basement Bar is where you can hang out and enjoy some good tunes with some good people. So grab yourself a drink and tell us to what you've been listening.
